A tour worth taking

Find yourself Awe-Struck in the Outdoors

Kelly Grebe wants to show you some of the coolest sites in Boulder County, feed you its freshest foods, and nourish your soul – all in one glorious outing.

The founder of Awe-Struck Outdoors, Kelly – along with husband Russell and their team of professional guides – leads tourists and locals through some of Boulder’s most spectacular back country on bicycles, cross-country skis, snow shoes and hiking boots.

Great food comes standard with every tour. Awe-Struck’s popular summer and fall Bike to Farm Tours incorporate a gorgeous ride through east Boulder County to a working farm where dinner is served alfresco, featuring a plethora of field fresh foods. Day and afternoon tours incorporate creative lunch fare and tapas.

“One of our main goals is to support the local food movement and local farmers,” Kelly explains. “We’re compelled and called to do that. If you’re not eating local, there is as much fossil fuel in your fridge as there is in your car.”

Depending upon the tour, Awe-Struck’s Bike to Farm Tours may feature Lone Hawk Farms, 63rd Street Farm,  Sol Y Sombra, or Yaya Farm and Orchard.

“After experiencing these farms up close and personally, many of our participants have signed on to CSAs (community supported agriculture shares),” she says.

You might think a tour company would be geared almost exclusively to out-of-town visitors, but Kelly says locals are looking for new ways to see Boulder County too.

“We see a half-and-half mix of visitors and locals,” explains Kelly. “The nice surprise for us has been hosting all kinds of local groups like company outings, bridal parties, birthday parties and family adventures.”

Awe-Struck offers pre-set and custom trips, with distances and terrain designed to accommodate everyone’s abilities within the group. If the range is significant, the company works with Small Planet E-Vehicles to provide electric bikes.

An Awe-Struck outing makes a pretty awesome gift for clients, partners and family. Gift certificates are available at Alfalfas and Full Cycle in Boulder, as well as Happy Trails Bicycle Shop and Tin Shed Sports in Nederland. You can also call Kelly 303.807.6634 with ideas and questions any time.

With permits throughout the city of Boulder, Boulder County, Roosevelt National Forest, Colorado State Parks and on private land, Awe-Struck can take you places you’ve never seen before. And will never forget.
