The board members of Boulder Area Realtor Association (BARA) met on Wednesday to discuss a motion to take $10,000 from a reserve fund used in emergencies.
RE/MAX of Boulder’s Mike Bader is president of BARA and spoke on the matter this afternoon.
The funds were donated to Elevations Credit Union, who is matching donations up to $100,000; a figure Bader claims “they’ll reach that pretty quick.”
BARA’s funds were allocated with the intent on getting the money distributed to those who need it as quickly as possible. The aid will help displaced flood victims pay for housing, whether that be a rental, hotel, or other means of shelter.
BARA has extended its relief efforts further, lobbying to get the Colorado Association of Realtors housing Opportunity Foundation (CARHAF) to donate additional funds. Bader explained that aid will go to help those affected across Colorado, not just those in Boulder County.
