BoldeReach presents “compassion in action”

It seems the world is boiling over. Like yours, my inboxes are filled with stories of raw need and endless pleas. Taking it in can be overwhelming. Taking it on can feel hopeless.

But there are actually some practical ways for you to make a practical difference, and a remarkable Boulder non-profit has a presentation on tap to show you how.

This Thursday, BoldeReach presents Dr. Fran Hamilton, the founder of Goodness To Go and author of Goodness To Go: A Handbook for Humanitarians.

The handbook is designed to “mobilize the spirit of giving by offering a process to clarify and mobilize your goodness in ways that are sustainable and enjoyable.”

In other words, Dr. Hamilton will show you how to make a positive difference that makes sense for you – in the context of your life, your interests and your abilities.

In addition, the presentation includes Dr. Hamilton’s husband Mark Sherman and their teenage daughter Grace Shanti. The family will share their stories of frontline international activism.

A practicing physician with Boulder Community Health, Dr. Hamilton has volunteered her medical services around the world, with India as a focal point. Her travels inspired her to found Goodness To Go, which, among other things, empowers at-risk girls in India through health and education initiatives.

Mr. Sherman is a local firefighter and co-director of the USA Child In Need Institute (CINI), which supports CINI-India, a 40-year-old Calcutta non-profit whose child protection, nutrition, and health programs have transformed millions of lives and prevented many young girls from being trafficked into the sex trade.

BoldeReach is a community of women devoted to supporting organizations that aid and empower women and children in extreme need around the world through awareness and fundraising. The all-volunteer group has raised awareness and money for standout organizations like International Midwife Assistance, Bicycles for Humanity, Global Education Fund, Urgent Action Fund, and many others. Greater than 90% of the funds raised by BoldeReach go directly to beneficiary organizations. For more information on BoldeReach and the Conversations series, go here.
