Cartoons and Hidden Tunes: Getting Serious about Laughter!
Cartoons & Hidden Tunes

In a unique collaboration between the Dairy Arts CenterThe Academy, and the Off the Hook Arts, Music at the Dairy presents two very engaging and dynamic artists who find humor and satire in the most difficult and challenging of political and social situations.

Kevin Kallaugher, editorial cartoonist of The Economist for over 35 years, will demonstrate how to draw a political caricature, tell anecdotes about cartooning for the Economist, and will quickly draw amazing cartoons that will be projected for you to enjoy in real time.

Bruce Adolphe, NYC composer, author, pianist, and the Piano Puzzler on NPR’s Performance Today show, will play and discuss humor in music through the ages, including part of his recently released Piano Puzzler CD.

Please note due to construction at the Dairy this month this performance is at The Academy, located at 970 Aurora in Boulder. Only 100 tickets are available.

Voxare meets The Man
Voxare Meets The Man

One of the most acclaimed young string quartets in America, the Voxare String Quartet from NYC, performs a very expressive, sometimes wild live soundtrack to Russian filmmaker Dziga Vertov’s remarkable 1929 silent experimental masterpiece, The Man with the Movie Camera.

This landmark project marries this part documentary and part cinematic art film with Voxare’s ingenuity, musical prowess, and aesthetic sensibilities to create an unforgettable experience unique to the music world. Don’t miss this exciting adventure direct from New York in our newly renovated Gordon Gamm Theater.

Jazz and Vonnegut

Jazz & Vonnegut

To say this is a unique jazz concert just sounds too trite.  This is more than outstanding Jazz music. This is an exciting Jazz experience not to be missed. This is a program of jazz standards thematically wrapped around an unusual short story by famed American author Kurt Vonnegut. And nowhere will you hear this story told with such musical emotion as here with the David Fulker Quartet and nationally recognized jazz singer, Robert Johnson. This truly is a unqiue, not-to-be-missed performance.

Wendy Woo Retrospective
Wendy Woo Retrospective

Wendy Woo has established herself as one of Colorado’s most requested entertainers. She has played in top venues coast to coast, recorded nine albums, and draws upon a deep catalog of songs in a wide range of genres including rock, blues, folk, and jazz.  For this One Night Only concert, Wendy has created a retrospective of work throughout her career, and has invited musicians she has played with in the past to join her. And, of course, her current Wendy Woo band will be here too. This is truly a one-night-only performance exclusively at the Dairy Arts Center at 7:30 pm.

Come early to enjoy our first First Friday event featuring Happy Hour from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm in our brand new Polk Café, including live music in our new lobby.
