Kilwins Chocolatier, Confectionary, and Ice Cream Shop Opening On Pearl Street on January 9

Join the excitement at the brand new Kilwins store, which will be opening its doors at 1430 Pearl Street on Saturday, January 9.

Delightful sweet treats will abound at the splendid new store that sits at the charming east end of Pearl Street in Boulder.

Stepping into Kilwins is a consummate feast of the senses: the euphony of popcorn popping, the aroma of chocolate and sugar, the sweetness of tantalizing samples.

Customers will be dazzled by a bountiful variety of hand-crafted chocolates, hand-paddled fudge, original recipe ice cream, caramel apples, caramel popcorn and brittles, and many hand-dipped treats – all made in the store.


Kilwins will offer an array of chocolates including truffles, an assortment of dark and milk chocolate tuttles, and fair trade drinking chocolate as well as confections including sea-salt caramels and taffy. Kilwins can create special gifts and baskets – from a two-piece personal party or wedding favor to a gift-giving basket filled with your favorite selections.


Kilwins also has 36 original recipe flavors of super premium ice cream, which can be served in freshly-made waffle cones and cups as well as combined to create specialty shakes, sundaes, malts. They will even offer hand-packed quart ice cream and beautifully personalized ice cream cakes.

Says Stacie Holbel who owns the store with her husband, Tom, and recently moved from Michigan to open Kilwins, “After vacationing in Boulder for years, we knew this is where we wanted to end up. We’ve always loved Boulder – the quality of life and its beauty are incomparable.”


The Holbels have been longtime admirers and devoted customers of Kilwins. Stacie was a nurse and Tom a veterinarian, but they had lifelong dream that they would like to own a Kilwins franchise one day. “It’s been our dream to do this, and after three years to find our perfect spot on Pearl Street, now it’s happening,” Stacie remarks.

To mark their induction into Boulder, the Holbels have even developed a special flavor of fudge, Bronco Mud, comprised of light and dark chocolate. They are also planning to donate their premium ice cream to the Scoops for Scholars program for students in Boulder Valley School District.

Kilwins Boulder will employ 10-15 staff, ages 14 and up, and have even recruited graduates of Boulder’s prestigious Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.

When the doors swing open on January 9, 2016, customers will enjoy free samples, food, and can bring their children to meet Kilwins’ 8-foot-tall moose.
