People are flying in from all over the world for the Great American Beer Fest (GABF) this weekend in Denver.
We’re lucky we don’t need to go far – we live in the epicenter of breweries and beers. Along with breweries represented from across the U.S., you’ll recognize our local best including Avery Brewing Company, Fate Brewing Company, Boulder Beer Company, J Wells Brewery, Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery, New Planet Beer Co, Post Brewing Co, and Oskar Blues!
There are events and talks galore from beer tasting, beer books and author talks, to tips on fermenting and home brewing, meeting with brewers, learning how to judge beers — and even beer blending, costume contest, and extreme brewing.
One of the most fabulous attractions at the festival is the official Paired event on October 6 – 7, where celebrated chefs and brewers from around the country will collaborate on 42 unique food and beer pairings. Located just off the main hall, Paired offers an intimate environment where guests get the chance to try limited release beers and specialty dishes and chat with the brewers and chefs behind each pairing.
At this year’s event, Boulder’s very own Jax Fish House will collaborate with Grand Teton Brewing Company from Victor, Idaho. Jax executive chef Sheila Lucero will pair a Salmon Tataki (chili-charred with chimichurri and shishito peppers) with Grand Teton’s Pursuit of Hoppiness and will also serve fresh-shucked oysters with a fennel, verjus and Grand Teton Brett Saison mignonette.
Also visit the Pizzeria Locale and Arcana tables! Fate Brewing Co and Oskar Blues will also make a fine showing.
Specially crafted beer from our own backyard!
Gearing up for The Great American Beer Festival, Jax Fish House partnered with The Post Brewing Company to create Bad Mutha’ Shucka.
Weighing in at 5.75% ABV, this amber ale is dripping in citrus and tropical fruit aromas supported by a classic, full malt flavor. It was brewed from American 2-row barley malt, Munich malt and two types of crystal malt for a rich and satisfying malt profile. The beer was hopped with a blend of Cascade, Willamette and Azacca hops resulting in a distinctly fruity, American hop aroma and flavor. And while no oysters were harmed in the making of Bad Mutha’ Shucka, it pairs exceptionally well with a dozen on the half-shell.
“This beer is just right, right where it counts,” says Selders.
Bad Mutha’ Shucka is available on tap, exclusive and in limited supply, at all four Colorado Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar locations—Boulder, LoDo, Fort Collins, and Glendale. In addition, each restaurant will be celebrating GABF all week long with several limited release beers, raw bar specials, and swag giveaways.
It’s not too late!
