Five Ways to Make This Mother’s Day Special

There are people that come in to our lives and change our world forever. That have made a positive impact we could never hope to repay. For most of us, one of those such people is the woman who brought us into the world. Our mother.

Mother’s Day is less than a week away, and while one day a year is not nearly enough to say thank you to Mom, here are some great ideas around Boulder to help show your mom how much you love and appreciate her.

1. 2 Witches & A PrinceBoulder Theater (2032 14th Street, Boulder)

If your mother is a drama queen (in the best way) take her to see this fun, whimsical ballet about a prince looking for love. He is thwarted along the way by an evil witch, helped by the good witch and appearances by Rapunzel, Cinderella and Snow White make for a wild ensemble sure to make your mom smile.

2. T9 Mermaid Run – The Boulder Reservoir (5565 N 51st Street, Boulder)

For those active moms, Title Nine and the Mermaid Series teamed up to put on a Mother’s Day fun run at Boulder Reservoir. With a 5K, a 10K and even a one mile mermaid dash, the whole family can enjoy the day. Afterward, there will be delicious post-race food and fun music to dance to. The weather is supposed to be nice, so soak up some sun with your mom on her special day.

3. Project OM Breast Cancer Donation Class – Radiance Power Yoga (2704 28th Street, Boulder)

Manduka and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation have teamed up with Radiance Power Yoga to bring attention to a very special cause on Mother’s Day. Whether you have lost your mother or someone close to you to breast cancer, or it’s just a cause very close to your mother’s heart, come to the yoga class. One hundred percent of the donations go to Susan G. Komen’s goal of reducing the number deaths to breast cancer by 50 percent in the United States over the next 10 years.

4. Mother’s Day Radical Self-Love – Soul Tree Yoga (422 Eeast Simpson Street, Boulder)

This event is geared towards mothers specifically. Surprise your stressed out mother with a ticket to this special 90-minute yin class, for guaranteed relaxation. Nikki Rogers and Jenny Hecht have prepared a Yin yoga class paired with Essential Oils to maximize gentle body movement with the aroma and healing powers of oils. The class would be a perfect way for your mom to end the day relaxed. Don’t forget the wine and treats after the class is finished.

5. Family Photo Day at the Rockies – Coors Field (2001 Blake Street, Denver)

For sports loving mothers, or those who will never pass up a family phot opp, the Colorado Rockies are offering a game and photo package just for you. First you watch the Rockies take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at 1:10pm, then after the game, you and your family get to have your photo taken by the team photographer on the field. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the sunshine, a hot dog and a beer, and have the photo to remember it.
