Hi & Goodbye – Local Business Update for August

Change is everywhere, and in a booming, dynamic place like the Front Range, we’re seeing it firsthand. 

Whether we’re welcoming new businesses, watching a storefront switch locations, or occasionally saying “goodbye,” we’ll keep you up to date about the flux of local businesses. So here’s breaking news about new and departing businesses for the month of August!

  • 12 Point Distillery – New in Lafayette
      • Lafayette welcomes a brand new distillery this summer!
      • 12 Point Distillery is based off of the “family table” setting. An intimate yet social place for friends and family to connect and come together.
      • Known for amazing fruit vodkas. 1 pound of fruit is used per bottle, allowing the delicious liquor to taste and look refreshing with natural, vibrant colors.
      • Tasting room sessions are available from Wednesday – Sunday (hours vary).

  • Second Tangerine Location – Lafayette
      • After opening its first location in Boulder, healthy Tangerine restaurant has expanded and opened a new eatery in Lafayette.
      • Tangerine offers delicious breakfast, brunch and lunch options. All menu items are focused on using fresh products, and creating new and innovative versions of classic recipes.

  • Thalken  – Moving to Lafayette
      • The minimalist-inspired jewelry boutique was originally located in Louisville, and moved to Lafayette this year.
      • The boutique specializes in “beauty in simplicity”. Each jewelry piece embodies the simple style, yet is unique in its own way with details adding the final flourishes to a gracefully polished look.

  • Code Ninjas – Moving to Broomfield
      • Code Ninjas, a company that focuses on teaching kids coding through games, will be opening its first Broomfield location on August 6th.
      • Kids learn coding along with how to successfully work with others and are introduced to new math.

  • Fleet Feet Sports – Closed
    • Originally opening its first store in 1976, Fleet Feet Sports has grown tremendously since then. Unfortunately its Broadway location has closed permanently in Boulder.
    • However, a new running store “In Motion Running” is slated to open on 30th and Walnut in Boulder this fall. Check back for an update later in the month. The store will be owned by Mark Plaatjes who was influential in the founding of Boulder Running Company and who is a acclaimed in the Boulder running community.
