It’s been a embarrassing summer off the field for the Broncos. To kick it off, two top personnel executives, Matt Russell and Tom Heckert, were arrested for DUI’s. Russell, a former All-American linebacker and Butkus Award winner for CU, hit a parked police car…real genius.
Recently, the Broncos best defensive player and rising star linebacker, Von Miller, is facing a four game suspension to start the season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Miller confirmed the statement released by the NFLPA Monday stating that his case does not involve the Steroids and Related Substances Policy.
The rumor circulating the blog mill is that Miller tested positive for “Molly” or MDMA, which is classified as an amphetamine. Possibly related to this case, or possibly not, is an alleged 2011 test in which Miller came up positive for marijuana.
Miller has filed an appeal set to be heard in mid-August. A suspension will be certainly be a blow to the Broncos, who are not shying away from Super Bowl or Bust expectations that are coming from everywhere, though Vegas doesn’t seem to think so. Denver is still 5-1.
