Four ski bums from the University of Alabama introduce their brand of “cue.”
Since their days slinging pig out of a trailer parked roadside in Vail, Moe’s BBQ isn’t just growing, it’s expanding rapidly, yet it’s still owned by the original crew.
Located in the Will Vill shopping center, Moe’s BBQ rub dry pork, chicken, hot links, turkey, catfish, Angus beef, shrimp and even some animal they call tofu. Then, starting at the crack of dawn, the pit masters perfectly smoke the meats using the cherry and applewood that’s stacked high in the middle of the restaurant. Along with your meats, you can choose from Moe’s standard sides of cornbread, baked beans, potato salad, slaw and even banana pudding. They also typically offer side specials such as collard greens, mac and cheese and jambalaya.
Billed as a “Southern Soul Food Revival,” Moe’s is the most legit BBQ in Boulder. Not to take anything away from the long established KT’s, but they have some serious competition in the neighborhood. Moe’s has been able to revitalize the building they took over that has been a rotating door of tenants.
At Moe’s, food is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so hurry on down, they do run out.
