It certainly was not pretty Saturday night at Folsom field but the Buffs found a way to beat FCS aka Division II Central Arkansas. Previous Buffs teams find a way to lose that game.
Turnovers were both a positive and and a negative for the Buffs as they gave the football away four times, including a horrible interception thrown by Connor Wood, but also forced four takeaways of their own, including two pick sixes. The giveaways were crucial and against a better team, CU probably doesn’t survive. They kept the Bears in the game and highlighted the fact that CU has a long way to go. On the other side of the coin, the takeaways highlight that the Buffs are clearly improved on defense.
The offense made enough plays to offset the giveaways and Paul Richardson racked up a second consecutive game of 200 plus yards and two TD’s including another game clencher late in the fourth quarter. Richardson is emerging as one of the top receivers in the Pac-12 though granted, he has not faced stellar competition.
As they say, a win is a win. The Buffs have now doubled their win total from a season ago and won at home for the first time in nine games.
