Local company BBB Seed walks the talk when it comes to the local foods movement and smart agricultural stewardship.
BBB Seed began as “Beauty Beyond Belief” Wildflower Seeds in Fort Collins during the 1980s.
Mike Wade, husband of RE/MAX of Boulder agent Lisa Wade, bought the business around 2006. While chatting with Lisa, she described how Mike desired to own Beauty Beyond Belief because, “He thought it went well with his knowledge base…and already established connections in the green industry.”
Lisa explained that the name “BBB Seed” comes from the expansion of the business (no doubt, after many years of hard work) from the original “Beauty Beyond Belief Wildflower Seeds” to “Beauty Beyond Belief,” “Bounty Beyond Belief,” and “Botanicals Beyond Belief.”
The company sells wildflower seeds and products such as heirloom vegetable seeds, t-shirts, gift baskets, and photo cards. Lisa mentioned that BBB Seed gift baskets make for great real estate closing gifts.
Lisa said that BBB Seed sells products to many different stores and companies in Boulder, as well as some national retailers. You can find BBB Seed at stores such as McGuckin Hardware and Sturtz & Copeland. All of the company’s products are available online at bbbseed.com.
BBB Seed donates vegetable seeds to non-profit organizations and local schools “to help promote community gardening and teach kids the value of growing organic food.” Additionally, the company participates in National Pollinator Week, promoting the protection of bees and other pollinators by stopping the spread of GMOs and and the use of pesticides.
