This year from 3pm-6pm on Halloween, a hoard of tiny superheroes, fairies, Elmos and Elsas – so very many Elsas*!– descended upon Pearl street in Boulder for its annual Munchkin Masquerade. Over 100 local businesses offered up treats and games for their littlest patrons on a beautiful, sunny Friday afternoon.
Children had fun collecting candy, decorating fall scenes at a coloring station set up by the City of Boulder, and checking out all of their friends’ costumes. It was especially enjoyable to see so many parents getting in the spirit with costumes as well.
This is my family’s third year experiencing this event, and I think it’s growing more popular each year. Despite the crazy crowds, we managed to have a great time and saw a number of friends, classmates and neighbors all decked out in their Halloween best.
Many thanks to all of the businesses who participated and gave the kids such a fun, safe, and memorable Halloween! We look forward to seeing you all again next year.

* Elsa is the Queen in the Disney movie Frozen, and was by far the most popular costume of this Halloween.
