Summertime comes to a glorious crescendo this weekend when the Town of Erie celebrates the end of the season with a grand group campout at Erie Community Park.
More than 750 campers will pop tents and toast marshmallows elbow-to-elbow with friends and neighbors at the sixth annual Great Erie Outdoor Adventure.
An action-packed, nature-based outdoor extravaganza, the overnight event includes a climbing wall, kayak tank, mountain bike course/demo by Avid4Adventure.
New this year, Airbound’s spectacular mobile ropes course, is sure to challenge young and old.
Indian summer perfection is on tap weather-wise, with kick-off Saturday, Aug. 29 at 12 noon. The event runs through Sunday morning.
Participant numbers have risen each year since the inaugural GEOA in 2010 and this year’s sold out campout is likely to be the biggest ever.
With toast-your-own S’mores (Whole Foods), dinner (Still Smokin’), movie (Mr. Peabody & Sherman); games like kickball, sack race and water balloon toss; and contests such as Family Pajama Jam, fun for all abounds.
Get on Board for Next Year
Saturday’s event sold out within two weeks of registration, which is $45 for up to six campers. Registration includes dinner, movie, breakfast and all activities. No walk-up registrations are available.
Plan ahead! Put it on your calendar for next year and get in on one of the summer’s best events.
