Bound for the Great American Beer Festival

FATE Brewing brings 11 new beers to the GABF |

The highly anticipated Great American Beer Festival in Denver this week isn’t Jeff Griffith’s first rodeo.

The seasoned brewer has submitted his fair share of beers for competitive judging at GABF before. But this year he’s tendering brews under the moniker of Boulder’s hottest new restaurant-brewery, FATE Brewing Company. which recently received the Boulder Daily Camera People’s Choice award for Best New Restaurant.

FATE opened in Boulder less than a year ago, making the brand a neophyte GABF entrant among an immense pool of seasoned competitors.  But Jeff is undaunted.

“We’re just really excited to present our beers to the judges, industry types and plain old beer lovers who flock to this event,” Jeff explains.

Flock they do. GABF hosts nearly 50,000 beer enthusiasts from around the world and sold out in mere hours after tickets went on sale last summer. In the competition portion of the event, beer judges taste and appraise  some 3,000-plus beers entered by nearly 500 domestic breweries. Gold, silver and bronze awards are given for a plethora of categories.

FATE is bringing 11 of its eclectic beers to the event, and pouring five of those for tasters on the exhibition floor. (Read more about the brewery’s pours here.)

“It’s absolutely a whirlwind week,” Jeff says. “It’s a great opportunity for exposure and networking and gives us a good sense for the direction of the industry across the country.”

Good luck to FATE and all of the local Boulder County brewers participating at GABF.
